Library Resources Area
The Learning Resource Area contains a large number of items including books, dvds, cds , computer software and magazines. Our own collection of materials is regularly supplemented with loans from the much larger Schools Library Service collection. With a little notice, we rarely fail to find the information our users require!
It is open during lunchtimes and after school for pupils to borrow items or to complete homework or pursue a hobby. There are twelve computers with internet access available at this time also - either to complete school work or to carry out research. Internet access is here too, which can be invaluable to pupils whose home connections are not working or for those who do not have broadband at home.
We offer several activities and competitions throughout the school year to try to encourage reading. This year we are introducing a loyalty card, with pupils collecting stamps for various activities. These cards can then be redeemed for various rewards, including stationery items or the opportunity to stamp books!
We also run a small stationery shop with many basic items sold cheaply ? pens, pencils, rubbers etc. This can be very useful if pupils forget to put these items in their bags. To make work a little more fun, we also offer some novelty items, which pupils can buy at lunchtime or after school.
At the time of writing this, installation of a new programme is planned, which will give borrowers much wider access to search our resources or to check their accounts. Eventually this should be available from any computer with internet access.
